New Growth After the Snowstorm

A second snowstorm hit. Actually, the third, but the second since I planted my garden. I actually planted additional lettuce, some arugula and a few more kale plants the weekend before the second. But my garden survived. You'd hardly know it was hit.

The plants are recovering nicely. As you can see from these plants, my kale, which I had thought was a goner (check out those outer leaves ... ) either through transplant shock or the cold - or both - is coming back nicely. I love watching the new leaves poking through.

The spinach plants don't look great in this photo, but they grew nicely over the days following when I took this. Again, I love watching the new leaves. I'm always amazed at how well most plants will return from what in the past I would have thought was the "dead." I thought my chard I planted this year was not going to survive the transplant, and yet a couple of the plants are starting to show signs of life. Anyway, here's my spinach. Making good progress!
